This lab book and the Physio-ex CD are such a pain in the butt! I'm taking an online a&p course (1 and 2) and anytime my lab quizzes included the Physio CD, I had nightmares.

The anatomy portion of the book is essentially just a repeat of the textbook, but summarized. The figures are the exact same as they are in the textbook. One plus is that you do get some cadaver images as opposed to just drawings.

The second half of this book is a printed walkthrough of what is provided in the Physio CD. My problem with this program is that they put too much focus on the animations when you're doing the lab experiments, and less on truly making the material you're supposed to be learning accessible. There have been a few experiments that I have done so far for my class, and I still don't understand how it relates to the material I was reading about. By the time I had to take the online lab quizzes (where the questions were more advanced and required an intimate understanding of what the experiments were about), I was at a total loss.

I have also noticed that my classmates in my class had the same issue with the Physio-ex CD. I suppose that the professor f the class is partially to blame because of the quiz questions he chose, but I also know he got those questions from a test bank provided by the creators of this product.

Alas, taking an online course has its drawbacks, and not having your lab professor there to answer your questions is definitely one of them. I think this program needs to be improved upon, and they need to provide better practice questions that truly prepare you for exams.

I had to get this for my anatomy class and now have to use it for physiology class. It was great. I used it more than the actual book. The diagrams and pictures were easy to follow and study from. There is also plenty of info that was explained in better terms and detail than the heavy giant book.
