This review book is extremely basic with very little discussion on important concepts that PAs need to know for board review and general knowledge. After taking the boards already I bought this to keep up on current information. I was very disappointed in this edition. There is no CD for tests or practice exams in the book. If you are in PA school and need a great study material, I highly recommend "A Comprehensive Review for the Certification and Recertification Examinations for Physician Assistants" by O'Connell and Zarbock, 3rd Edition (I don't know if there is a newer edition). It was much better than this Van Rhee edition, take my word for it, as a practicing ED PA.By MooseJuice2000
I have been using "A Comprehensive Review for the Certification and Recertification Examinations for Physician Assistants" by O'Connell and Zarbock 3rd edition to help me with PA school. As I am going to take the PANCE in a few months, I was not sure if I should just get the 4th edition of the same book or get a different one. I decided to go for the second option and I am glad I did. This book has more details than O'Connell including lab medicine and test taking techniques (for example how to set up an schedule for studying prior to take the exam). It also comes with tables in the back with common signs in medicine, dermatomes, cranial nerves, poisoning antidotes, etc...By PA2012
It has about 10 questions at the end of each chapter, so definitely you will need another book with test questions, which I have another 2 or 3. So far, I think this book has been a good review resource for my exam.
