Yes, every other review says the same thing but I bought these anyway. The cards are flimsily, they are printed on a matte type of paper, less sturdy than a traditional index card but a little more sturdy than plain paper. There are 2-4 questions on each card with rationales on the back. There are a lot of "select all that apply questions" (which I hate answering when they are on my exam but am glad there are so many to practice with on these cards). I love the info on the cards, the answers not only give you the rationales to the right/wrong answers, they also give you test taking strategies on how to read the question and how to eliminate answers... here are 2 example questions with rationales:
A client with chest trauma has undergone subsequent intubation. The nurse checks the client when the ventilator's high-pressure alarm sounds and notes that the client has absent breath sounds in the right upper lobe of the lung. The nurse should immediately assess for other signs and symptoms indicative of which situation?
1. right pneumothorax
2. pulmonary embolism
3. displaced endotracheal tube
4. acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
Answer 1: pneumothorax is characterized by restlessness, tachycardia, dyspnea, pain with respiration, asymmetrical chest expansion, and diminished or absent breath sounds on the affected side. Pneumothorax can cause increased airway pressure because of resistance to lung inflation.
Test-taking strategy: Note the strategic word "immediately." Eliminate options 2 and 4 because pulmonary embolism and ARDS are not characterized by absent breath sounds.
