This book has a good overview of the surgical procedures and lots of things to be aware of as a surgical technologist. However, if you want information on the body systems or why things are done, the last edition provides MUCH more understanding. This book adds information for dealing with the modern threats of bioterrorism, and current procedures for terrorist attacks and modern concerns. Again, if you want good information to pass a surgical technology course all in 1 book, get the 3d edition.

It does the job. As with most textbooks they are way over priced and schools require you to buy the latest edition. Publishers print new editions every two years with very little difference between other editions. I only gave it three stars because I have a beef with school textbooks.....
