This is a very well-written and nicely illustrated book. The illustrations and diagrams are superb. The color coding schemes are well-planned and useful in remembering material.By A.E.L.S.
However, it really displays small on my kindle fire, so I'm forced to read it on my desktop PC monitor, where it can be enlarged to a nicely readable size. I wouldn't recommend this book on a kindle for anyone who has an aversion to small print. If you don't mind reading small print, it should be all right, though.
Also, the index isn't hyperlinked, but the size of the book allows for searches that don't take a ridiculous amount of time.
The summaries of clinically important microorganisms in Ch. 32 towards the end of the book are invaluable for reviewing pertinent information. They cover: species and subspecies; common characteristics; pathenogenesis/clinical symptoms; treatment and prevention; and lab identification. The case studies at the end of the book are also interesting.
Overall, it seems more suited to being a textbook than a review book, though. If you're pressed for time and want to review,Medical Microbiology: The Big Picture (LANGE The Big Picture)
is probably a better choice.
If you want to study microbiology and have lots of time to read through it, it's a terrific book.
The book follows my micro prof's lectures exactly. Its a very simple read with clear and concise illustrations. I wish i got it earlier.By Veerendra Jadhav
