I ordered this because of how my Fundamentals instructors kept always stating that all their information comes from Potter and Perry's Textbook information and guidelines. We call the textbook "The Bible for Student Nurses" in my class. This is why I figured that it may be extremely beneficial to order this handbook as kind of like a short cut to focusing on the emphasized material. In that aspect, it is a good resource. On the other hand, it really didn't help me when it came to the critical thinking or application questions on the exams. With nursing exams, you cannot focus on memorizing bullet points or specific vocabulary terms and definitions. You must know about these things, don't get me wrong, but you need to know how to apply your knowledge to situations in clinical settings. This handbook is good for memorizing the bullet points and vocabulary, but not for application, theory, and critical thinking.

This is a good tool for focusing your reading and for review before exams. I recommend this book for new nursing students. The outline format is conducive for those who like to outline chapters. It helps me to read some information differently from what I would ordinarily. The outline format reduces the "noise" of a lot of words on the page. There is variety in the format, from fill in the blank to matching and practice questions.
