Unlike books that encourage rote memorization, this conversationally-written text puts the student at the patient’s bedside, focusing not just on identifying rhythms or EKGs, but also on “Now what do I do for the patient?” Assuming no prior knowledge, EKG PLAIN AND SIMPLE, 3/e covers EKG from basic to advanced concepts. Part I progresses seamlessly from basic cardiac A&P through waves and complexes, lead morphology, and rhythms. Part II covers 12-lead interpretation, axis, hypertrophy, myocardial infarction, and more. The text presents many clinical scenarios, anecdotes, and critical thinking exercises, plus hundreds of practice rhythm strips and 12-lead EKGs. This edition adds new scenarios, chapter notes, and tables; more medication information; and new coverage ranging from MI symptoms to hemiblocks.

I have been in the medical field for 40 some years and always like to have good learning books. I have been out of school for years. When I found out that I needed to know about EKG's for a ACLS class, I did not know what books to buy? I brought several books, I just could not get it! One day I saw someone with this book. I just started the first chapter using the CD. M's Ellis was right, with this book and the CD it is going to be a piece of cake. Even at my age I can understand it all. Thank you M's Ellis keep on writing books where students can enjoy learning and understand what they are reading.

I love this book. It made EKGs very easy to understand. It presents basic & precise information, without getting you bogged down on unnecessary details. It has good illustrations and every chapter ends with review quiz questions that provide a lot of practice. This book also has great analogies that make the concepts clear. I found this book to be very helpful in my nursing courses. I definitely recommend it to all nursing students!
